John Stebila was inspired to assemblage art while vacationing in Santa Monica, California. Having been a wood carver for the past 20 years, it was a natural segway into assemblage art. John knew from the moment he saw the art form that he would go in this direction. Creating harmony out of chaos is John's destination when he is assembling his pieces--making art that suggests subtle relationships and themes from items not normally seen together that delight the viewer's sense of imagination. In this unique art form that some call "steam punk," the possibilities are endless.
John is a native New Yorker who was transplanted to Lake Havasu, Arizona in 1972. In 2008, John and his wife, Suzanne (also an artist), purchased a home in Northern Arizona and spend time between both locations.
