"I have come to cherish and kindle that familiar sentiment I have always felt since I was a boy; it is the longing for something that can never be fully obtained, but only vaguely hinted in the portraits that I try to make."
-- Lou Cong
At the age of 11, Cong moved from Shanghai to Muscatine, Iowa. His parents, both scientists, expected huim to follow suit. He graduated college with a Biology degree and moved to Denver, trying to put off attending med school.
Denver was much different than Muscatine and he became involved in the art scene even renting a small studio. Soon his works gained recognition and he was one of five “Today’s Masters Making Their Marks” by Fine Art Connoisseur magazine.
