“My fragmented figure sculptures interchange selected, cast bronze fragments of figures with blocks of natural stone. Stone adds a gestured force that binds the elements together. The fine art sculptures give the viewer the opportunity to participate visually and connect the segments of the incomplete figure in an understandable way. I try not to impose any particular meanings but, rather, to develop layers or suggestions of possible inference and leave the viewer to interject associations.
"I am drawn, in part, to the use of intentional fragmentation of the figure as a result of my interest in the sculptural ruins of antiquity. The human ability to interpret meaning through the arrangement of fragments of information is fascinating. Through this assimilation we construct our reality. My sculptures are deliberately contemplative in nature: they should stimulate the viewer toward deep introspection.”
